By Day 9 of a fast, many people notice a shift. The initial excitement has faded, the discipline has settled in, and God often begins to work below the surface. This is not a sign that the fast isn’t working — it’s often the clearest sign that it is.
Fasting has a way of moving past the obvious and touching the internal. It reveals thought patterns, emotional reactions, motivations, and attachments that usually stay hidden beneath busyness and routine. When the noise quiets, God speaks more clearly — not always about what we want Him to change around us, but about what He wants to change within us.
This internal work is essential. External breakthrough that outpaces internal transformation rarely lasts. God is faithful to prepare the carrier before releasing the promise. That preparation often feels like conviction, clarity, or a gentle but firm invitation to surrender areas we’ve protected.
If this season feels more reflective than dramatic, don’t be discouraged. Roots are growing. Alignment is happening. God is strengthening your inner life so that what He releases later can be sustained.
Stay faithful. Stay soft. Stay surrendered. What God is doing internally now will produce visible fruit in the right season.
